Welcome Visitors
First English Lutheran Church is a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). One of the big beliefs of the ELCA is that all God’s people are welcome. So when we invite you to come join us, we mean it completely. Attend our worship, join us in the Lord’s Supper (Communion), fellowship with us over a cup of coffee or juice, join an adult Bible study, pray with us, bring your children to Sunday School, and roll up your sleeves and join us in our mission of service in the name of Jesus Christ.
It is not our goal to bring people to First English Lutheran from other churches. If you have a church that meets your individual needs and those of your family’s, we urge you to attend there regularly and celebrate and strengthen your relationship with God there. But if you are looking for a church where you can be yourself and meet God where you are, please come join us.
Our Church Community
Each Sunday our congregation meets for worship and Sunday School. Our Fellowship Hall and Sunday School rooms are filled with singing and learning about Jesus. Our Sunday School has programs for ages 3 through 6th grade. On Wednesday, our confirmation program provides instruction to our 7th through 8th grade youth, as they prepare themselves to affirm their baptismal promises. Each year second graders and older learn about Holy Communion in preparation for their First Communion which takes place on Maundy Thursday, in the spring. Individuals provide special music for our worship services with solos, small groups and special readings.
As you see, there is something for everyone to learn and do at First English Lutheran.
First English Lutheran’s youth program includes activities at the church and service events where we have a great time doing stuff for others. Each year our youth are encouraged to attend Bible Camp programs as well. Our children have a fantastic time at Vacation Bible School (VBS) which is part of a community wide event right here at First English Lutheran. It’s a time of learning, singing, doing crafts and having great fun together. It takes a lot of help to put VBS together so everyone pitches in. Adults do the main teaching but our Jr. and Sr. High young folks help out and everyone, old and young, has a great time.
The First English Lutheran Church Women’s group or Women of the ELCA (WELCA) is regularly busy providing lunches for grieving families at funerals and sewing quilts that help people all around the world as well as those in need in right here in Tyler and Lincoln County.
Tyler at First English Lutheran
Our church building is a part of our Tyler Community. We have such a great location just off our down town that we host many local activities: AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings, community Bible studies, family reunions, birthday parties, wedding anniversaries and much more
You are Invited
We want you to feel comfortable to simply come and be with us. There is no pressure to join First English Lutheran, just come and see if this is the place that you have been looking for to explore your faith and invest your energy in God’s name.
It's exciting when one looks at the ministries that are made possible through First English Lutheran Church. Together we can experience spiritual growth and exciting ministry. As long as we are faithful to our Lord's guidance for us as His church in this place, we will continue to grow and prosper.
Matthew 6:33 reminds us to "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well."
